Scope and content
Two printed maps (postcard size) of the district (Merton) around the John Innes Horticultural Institution used by Darlington, in his capacity as an air raid warden, during World War Two. Included is a covering letter to the John Innes Centre Librarian (2003) from Oliver Darlington, Darlington's son, who donated the maps. One map shows the landing locations of high explosive and incendiary bombs; the other is a similiar record for flying bombs. This information is written on the cards in Darlington's hand, as well as the date span for the flying bombs map: 'June 15 - Aug 27th 1944'.
