Admin History: In 1911 Laxton Brothers applied to the Board of Agriculture and Fisheries Development Fund to assist with their experiments in breeding fruit trees. The seedling fruit trees that they raised were to be transferred, over a period of time, to the grounds of the John Innes Horticultural Institution. A grant was made to Laxton.
