Item WB/C/2/C.12 - Flysheet titled 'For Greek', by Bateson, and related printed matter

Extent: 1 folder

The flysheet, dated 23 October 1891, was Bateson's published contribution to the case for the retention of Greek. Included also are two printed letters, 20 February 1892, to the University Senate by the academics supporting retention of Greek (Bateson's name appears on one of these).

Admin History: A proposal to abolish compulsory Greek in the entrance examination was vigorously opposed by a group of academics which included Bateson.
