Admin History: Chris Trimmer joined the JIC in 1990 in Glasshouse and Field Services (now Horticultural Services) working in the Containment Lab and growing plants under head John Nicol as well as growing and harvesting cereals for the Cambridge Labs. He discusses work and social life at the JIC, including Peter Walker collecting roadkill, mixing compost, spraying, meeting future father-in-law Keith Harrison and how his time at the JIC informed his later work with the National Trust. Chris left in 1992 to work for the National Trust in Devon and now works throughout the organization on propagation and teaching grafting, micro propagation and plant conservation.
