Admin History: PhD Aberystwyth, and Leeds. Joined the Department of Applied Genetics under D R Davies at the JIC in 1979, working on plant hormones in peas as well as continuing collaboration with David Cove from Leeds on moss. Emeritus Fellow (2017), Trevor’s research history has been on various aspects of legume biology, using natural and induced mutants with the ultimate aim of improving the quality of legume crops. Trevor has used both models and crops to investigated seed development, storage products, the legume-rhizobium symbiosis and several aspects of primary and secondary metabolism. His most recent work was with Cathie Martin to improve the crop legume, Lathyrus sativus (grasspea), with the aim of removing the neurotoxin that it contains (ß-N-oxalyl-L-a,ß-diaminopropionic acid, ODAP). He retired in 2016.
