The first symposium was held on 7 January 1952 on ' Biological Aspects of Developmental Abnormality' consisting of 5 lectures and was well attended. Members of the first committee: Dr Elizabeth A Fraser (UCL) was elected Chairman, Alan Fisk (St Mary's Hospital Medical School), Secretary, Dr M Tribe (King's College), Treasurer, Miss F E Ince (Bedford College) and Mr Newth. Prof. J P Hill was elected president.
