Note
Admin History: The punch card system was a means of recording and extracting related information. Each card (generally for a cultivar, but the system was also used for coding notes from literature, etc.) was punched according to a pre-determined template. Metal rods were threaded through the holes relating to the desired characters or information, and those cards matching the requirements would drop out (information from Peter Matthews).
