Publicity about Antibiotic Research
Framed photograph of David Hopwood showing Hopwood above various coloured Petrie dishes, colour print, London Picture Service (4/1402/01/12/C) with typed page glued to back describing the background to the photograph entitled 'Breakthrough in Antibiotic Research'. Used for publicity about the first hybrid antibiotic using genetic engineering called meder-rhodin, produced at John Innes by a team led by Hopwood. Meder-rhodin was made by transferring genes from one strain of streptomycetes into another.
Fruit trees in pots showing results of cross and self-pollination (apple, cherry, pear, plum); fruit sports and chimeras; blackberry 'Merton Thornless'; rogue tomato; radishes (1), loganberry (1). Also four copies of picture from Pomona Herefordiensis (1811).
- Subject index 2. Numeric list
Colour and black & white slides documenting the work of A Gavin Brown and colleagues on apple, blackberry, cherry, peach, pear, plum, potato, strawberry, tomato. Also freesia, lathyrus. Also maize, cucurbits, salvia. Slides depict plants, fruit, details of plants, propagation methods, cytology, tables and statistics.
