Correspondence between RM and Charles Upton Lowe, State University of New York at Buffalo, USA. Lowe spent 20 months training at the VRU under Roy Markham (1960-61) working on nucleic acid metabolism. Includes detailed reports on his work at the VRU and bibliography. Lowe started work on identifying compounds produced by heating ammonium crystals in aqueous solutions with unexpectedly interesting results, identifying a large number of important biological molecules. RM and his wife later stayed with the Lowe family while visiting the US. Includes letters between RM and Leon A Heppel regarding extending Lowe's grant to stay longer.
