Contents of a plastic ring-binder titled 'Cyril Darlington: Life of a Young Scientist', compiled by Clare Passingham, Darlington's daughter. The contents are all typescript copies, consisting of the following: material authored by Darlington as follows: Clare Passingham's transcription of a short autobiography by Darlington (mostly written in 1946), preceded by his account of his family history, titled 'The Family History'. The autobiography covers his life up to the year 1929, with a few additional pages, probably writen in the late 1940s, relating to the purchase of Bayfordbury; material written by Clare Passingham as follows: a foreword, some notes on 'dramatis personae' and a short note on Darlington's character titled 'My Father Cyril Darlington'. These notes precede the two pieces of writing by Darlington. She has added a postcript and included footnotes to the autobiography and family history. Included are printouts of email correspondence, 2007, between Clare Passingham and John Innes Centre staff relating to her gift of the above copied material. There is an additional unbound typescript article by Clare Passingham titled 'My Father and the Battle over Soviet Biology', with covering letter, 2004, which states that it was published in the 'Oxford Magazine' in 2004. Also included (this was not part of the material supplied by Clare Passingham) is a photocopy of Darlingon's will (1978).
